In and around Cairns

Usually, we fly up to Cairns in the afternoon, spend the night in a cheap motel and head out to the reef early the next morning.  Then, do pretty much the same again when we get back to shore.  This time was different, we spent a few days resting and relaxing before we headed out to the reef, and then another few days when we came back to shore. We also upped-the-ante on the accommodation for the last few days.  If only we could afford to do this every time.

The days before we went out to the reef we hired a car and drove north from Cairns to the Daintree Rainforest region.  The Daintree is a beautiful part of the word and hopefully, one day soon, we will be able to take time out to truly explore this region.

The indulgent part of the holiday, was our two final nights at the Cairns Shangri-La.  This was the view from our room.  A great place to relax and regenerate after being out on the reef.

Oh, and yes, our time was just was exactly what we ordered; diving, eating, sleeping and more diving.  We’ll tell you all about it in our next post.
