Fiji dream holiday – part 2

The holiday continues…

Day 4. Breakfast, two boat dives, lunch, sleep, dinner, sleep.
Just the two of us, the dive master and the skipper on the boat today.  And again the conditions were perfect for taking photos.

I usually take a few shots at the beginning of dives to check my camera setup, something not moving is always best. That’s how I got this shot…. I like it.

This cod was hiding under a large plate coral, its great how he posed for the photo.

Giant Moray Eels are fairly common on tropical reefs, however we rarely get to see the entire fish, they are usually wound up in the coral with only their heads poking out.

This flabalina is well camouflaged,  I don’t know how Mannasa, our dive master, found it.

Day 5. Breakfast, two boat dives, lunch, sleep, dinner, sleep.
Today there were four divers plus the skipper and Julie, the owner of the dive operation and one of the best instructor/dive master/guides we’ve ever dived with. We dived with Julie on our first day and were impressed at how she quickly summed up the group’s (4 of us) diving skills and then patiently and clearly explained the dive plan. As usual, the 4 divers all had different skill and comfort levels.

We dived the White Wall first and were told there would be strong current on the wall and we’ll need our reef hooks. The white wall is covered in the most beautiful white soft corals. We weren’t disappointed.

Waiting for Julie to give the signal to release our hooks.

If you look closely at anemones, you can often find a variety of small shrimps living within. I think there are about five in this anemone.

Our last dive was a night dive, and it didn’t disappoint.  We spotted our first banded sea snake, unfortunately we didn’t get a good photo because it was just too close.  I was hovering just above the sea floor when it swam directly under me. My photos only show a few bands I was just too close and the snake wasn’t hanging around.

Day 7. Breakfast, relax, lunch, GET MARRIED, celebrate with our new friends.

What better way to finish a fantastic holiday than with a wedding.  We couldn’t go diving anyway…….

The big day.

The big day.

Day 8. Return home.  Alas, the end of the holiday, we will definitely return.
